PRF is in the final stages of the approval process for a further 259 hectares of prawn ponds. This will make it the largest single prawn farm in Australia. Total future production of Black Tiger Prawns will exceed 4000 tonnes by the year 2022.
The new site is adjacent to the Elliot River near Guthalungra, approximately 40km north of Bowen, North Queensland. PRF is a committed participant in research and development to ensure the very best methods and technology are harnessed to grow our premium quality Australian Black Tiger Prawns and North Queensland Cobia.
PRF prides itself on being a progressive and innovative organisation and is always looking at ways to improve its production efficiency and environmental outcomes. Some recent examples of this are the significant investments made in research and development of sand bed filtration and macro-algal production systems as a means of removing dissolved and particulate matter from the discharge waters.
